Costa Brava Tourist Guide
All the basics for Tourism in Costa Brava !
The Costa Brava is the northernmost coastal zone of the Spanish region of Catalonia between the cities Portbou and Blanes. It is situated in the province of Girona. Costa Brava holidays feature a huge variety of landscapes and recreational opportunities.
Apart from the usual recreational activities on the beach under the sun, we offer a list of tourist sights:
- The Dalí Triangle: The most important point of this tour is the Teatro-Museo Dalí in Figueres, Salvador Dalí's birthplace, which boasts a huge collection of important works of the painter. The second stop is Dalí's house in Portlligat, Cadaques, former fishing huts the Catalan master has made his home and studio. Finally, in the municipality of La Pera there is the third station of the Dalí triangle, the Púbol Castle, which Dalí built for his wife Gala in order to fulfil his promise to make her queen of a castle. No matter what your Costa Brava travel plans look like, we definitely recommend this extraordinary artistic journey.
- The small fishing village Cadaques in Costa Brava is in itself a very special attraction for visitors. The characteristic streets of Cadaques makes the town a unique paradise. If you are spending your Costa Brava holidays in Cadaques, do not forget to visit Port de la Selva.
- The nature park Cap de Creus. The Cap de Creus is the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula. It is the first marine nature reserve of Catalonia. The peninsula of Cap de Creus is a part of the Pyrenees foothills and has a very rich flora and fauna. Costa Brava holidays are very special because of the large number of walking tours you can make here, for example in Cap de Creus.
- Medes Islands, the archipelago of seven islands is the extension of Montgrí massif and is one of the most interesting areas of the Mediterranean, mainly because of its enormous biodiversity. If you are an avid diver, this is probably the best place for your Costa Brava holidays.
- Ampurias Ruins: Ampurias was a Greek city with an outstanding strategic location in the Gulf of Rosas. The remains are in quite good condition featuring mosaics and sculptures of great interest. If you rent an apartment or a villa in L'Escala during your Costa Brava holidays, do not forget to visit Ampurias.
- The bays of Begur and Palafrugell offer a very special natural phenomenon. Its numerous cliffs and beaches with crystal clear water turn the two landscapes to fantastic places. The lighthouse of Sant Sebastià in Palafrugell offers one of the best views over the Mediterranean.
- Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes is located north of Cap de Creus close to the bay of Port de la Selva and Llançà. When you spend your holiday in Costa Brava in this area, remember to visit this magnificent Romanesque architecture monument.
- Skydiving at the Emuriabrava airport: Here is a famous Spanish centre for extreme sports.
This Costa Brava guide also offers information about other interesting things, such as typical food and dishes that you can try during your holidays in Costa Brava. We recommend the seafood restaurants in Palamós where you can eat tasty dishes with Palamós prawns, or the purchase of L'Escala anchovies, which are considered best in Spain.
